ABSTRACT
The article reports on the financial performance of Kohl's Corp. for the fourth quarter. The company drove fourth quarter profits up 32.7 percent, to $324.9 million from $244.8 million. Fueled by continued rapid expansion, sales climbed higher by 14.5 percent, to $4.1 billion from $3.6 billion last year, while same-store sales improved 1.3 percent, extending a recent turnaround. Underpinning the strong performance, in addition to improving same-store sales, Kohl's bulked up its margins substantially, by 270 basis points, or 2.7 percentage points, to 33.6 percent from 30.9 percent.
