ABSTRACT
This article reports that the Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) for January was down to 0.21 from an upwardly revised 0.59 reading in December, originally reported as 0.39. Meanwhile, the three month moving average (CFNAI-MA3) slid to 0.29 in January from an upwardly revised 0.43 in December, originally reported as 0.33, the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago reported. Most of the fall in the CFNAI was attributed to a lesser contribution of production-related indicators.
