The article informs that the thermal spray process has been in use for more than 90 years. It is ideal for maintenance repair and manufacturing applications and can be applied to a wide range of substrates including metals, oxides, ceramics, glass, plastics, and even wood. It is finely divided metallic or nonmetallic material heated into a molten or semi-molten condition for deposit on a prepared substrate. Thermal spray equipment has two basic categorizations--combustible gases and electrical power. Various forms are available for each category.
