BellSouth Files Lawsuit in Attempt To Block Louisiana Telecom Rival

The article reports that BellSouth Telecommunications Inc. files lawsuit in an attempt to block Louisiana telecom rival. Determined to block Lafayette Utilities System in Louisiana from entering the telecommunications business, BellSouth Telecommunications Inc. has filed a lawsuit against the city of Lafayette and the pubic utilities authority to prevent any bonds from being sold to fund the effort. According to the lawsuit, which was filed January 24 in the 15th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Lafayette, the system's request to have up to $125 million of revenue bonds sold for the project should be declared illegal.
