ABSTRACT
The article recommends what to look for while buying audio books for kids. Children take great pleasure in listening to stories, and there are some terrific books on tape available in bookstores and in most public libraries, too. Tapes that come with a copy of the book are particularly valuable, because the child can follow along as the narrator reads. Many books on tape have interesting sound effects and music, and multiple narrators who are especially motivating and fun for young children. Beyond their sheer enjoyment of audiobooks, children also develop a sense of structure and an understanding of language.
