ABSTRACT
The article reports that Hawaii Superferry has secured more than $200 million in private and public backing for its plan to connect all of Hawaii's major islands by ferry. The article further reports that it still needs $40 million in improvements to the state's harbors to make the project a reality by 2007. The budget proposed by governor Linda Lingle's, which includes the Hawaii Department of Transportation's request for $40 million of general obligation bonds to fund the harbor improvements necessary to accommodate inter-island ferry service.
