ABSTRACT
This article reports that the U.S. administration has signaled its eagerness to resume negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement of the Americas (FTAA), covering the entire hemisphere, after signing the Central American Free Trade Agreement on May 28, 2004 and seeking to conclude the U.S.-Andean Free Trade Agreement early next year. With the pharmaceutical industry and its multibillion-dollar lobby dominating trade negotiations, even national sovereignty over health care policy is in danger of being overrun.
