ABSTRACT
The article reports that pharmacotherapy improves cognitive symptoms in dementia. Studies were selected if they were English-language parallel-group randomized controlled trials of pharmacologic agents in patients greater than 18 years of age with dementia. In patients with dementia, several agents improve cognitive function, some agents improve global assessment; and few improve behavior or mood or quality of life or activities of daily living. Categiver burden is rarely evaluated.
