This article focuses on plans of Mark Webster, current Furnishing Trades Benevolent Association chairman to look for new streams of revenue to raise funds, one of which is to target agents and importers for contributions. Grants are received by the association that come in two ways. Annuities are given in small weekly payments. These were raised from 5 to 6 pounds on April 1. Better funded charities pay between 15 and 20 pounds a week. Currently the association is supporting 275 individuals at an annual cost of 86,000 pounds. These are awarded after an investigative procedure, by an independent assessor, before anyone receives anything.
