ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the scope of the British furniture industry. Although the furniture industry still has some way to go before it reflects other industries, such as electricals, where "manufacturers" have transitioned into sales and marketing operations with both research and development and manufacturing being outsourced. Some suppliers are starting to take a heightened interest in communicating the benefits of their brand to consumers. One such company is Willis & Gambier, which launched an advertising campaign at the beginning of last December to support sales and increase brand awareness. INSET: The retailer's approach.
