ABSTRACT
The article reports that the London office of the U.S. firm Shearman & Sterling has secured a coup by beating Freshfieids Bruckhaus Deringer to instructions from mmO2 PLC on its corporate reorganisation. Shearman has previously advised the mobile operator on only minor U.S. issues such as its Securities and Exchange Commission filings and related corporate governance. This deal will see the company form a new holding company, buy out its minority shareholders and delist from the New York Stock Exchange.
