Political Titles Led New York Times HC Nonf iction List In 2004

This article presents information on best selling nonfiction books in the U.S. Former President Bill Clinton's novel "My Life" which began dominating the hardcover list since its June release, could not defeat the narrative power of politics and satire in Warner Books title, America (The Book), written by Jon Stewart and the writers of the Daily Show. Released in September, the title spent each of the last 12 weeks of 2004 in the No. 1 spot on the hardcover list, besting My Life by six weeks. Political tomes weren't the only winners in the hardcover or paperback nonfiction category. USA Today's list of the top 100 bestsellers of 2004 revealed that of the 40 nonfiction titles, nine were non-political memoirs, eight were diet-focused, and eight were advice books.
