This article focuses on ease in amendments proposed by the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB). MSRB has revised to be more lenient, and reproposed for public comment, amendments to its rules on official statements. The amendments to its Rules G-32 and G-36, which were originally issued last May would have required managing or sole underwriters to provide both paper and any available electronic versions of official statements to dealers purchasing the new securities upon request. Rule G-32 generally requires any dealer selling a new issue of a municipal security, during the underwriting period, to deliver the official statement to that customer by the settlement of the transaction.
