The article presents information on books related to city planning. Political scientists Suzanne M. Leland and Kurt Thurmaier have masterminded and edited a path-breaking systematic study of what really makes city-county consolidations succeed or fail in "Case Studies of City-County Consolidation: Reshaping the Local Covernment Landscape." In "Growth Management and Affordable Housing: Do They Conflict?" edited by Anthony Downs, three chapters are particularly germane. Writer George Galster addresses the effects of affordable and multifamily housing on the market value of nearby homes.
