The article focuses on Universal design. The McElraths are founders of the nonprofit Experience Universal Design Project. They have built two universal-design homes. The first one, constructed more than 13 years ago, was successful in the "invisibility" of universal-design features. The Experience Universal Design Project tours of the new model home in Arlington, Washington, were October 29-31, 2004 and November 5-7, 2004. By offering tours of their newest home, the McElraths educated people about universal design and promoted acceptance among consumers and in the housing industry.
