ABSTRACT
This article looks back over important dates and events in the life of Management Services, the official journal of the Institute of Management and Services, as of December 2004. It was in 1967 that the Institute added Management Services to the title of the journal, which finally became just Management Services in Volume 20, 1976. This followed trends in several major companies where productivity services of all kinds were being grouped within one multi-disciplinary department. By the late 1970s, circulation peaked as students clamored to join the profession. The journal helped by commissioning articles geared to their requirements. Certain personalities have figured prominently both within the Institute and through the Journal over the years. Seymour Hills was one of our home-grown pioneers. Lillian Gilbreth was no stranger to the Institute and she also carried the banner after the death of her husband and partner Frank Gilbreth. Many Institute members have actively supported the Journal over the years. The author notes that to single them out would perhaps be unfair to the countless others who have served on the editorial panel, branch, region and specialist group committees and who have over the years faithfully put their contributions together each month .
