ABSTRACT
The article presents information on Cingular Wireless LLC's acquisition of AT&T Wireless Services Inc. Advisors involved in the deal were Merrill Lynch & Co. , JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Citigroup, Evercore Partners Inc., and Rohatyn Associates LLC. The sale of AT&T to Cingular at $41 billion in cash plus the assumption of $5.7 billion in debt instantly transformed the North American wireless landscape. AT&T Wireless had been bandied about as an acquisition candidate almost since January 2002, when it was spun off from AT&T Corp.
