ABSTRACT
The article reports that the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)'s non-manufacturing business activity composite index rose to 63.1% in December from 61.3% in November, on a seasonally adjusted basis, the group said yesterday. The prices paid index, closely watched for signs of inflation, rose to 71.4% from 71.0%. The employment index dipped to 54.9% from 55.0%. The new orders index was at 60.3%, up from 59.9%; backlog of orders rose to 56.5 from 54.0%; new export orders stand at 55.5%, up from 53.5%; inventories increased to 56.0% from 52.5%; inventory sentiment gained to 64.0% from 61.5%; supplier deliveries index rose to 55.5% from 55.0%, and imports dipped to 61.0% from 62.0%.
