ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the book "Banking on Baghdad: Inside Iraq's 7,000 year History of War, Profit and Conflict. The continuing instability in Iraq, the debates about the efficacy of the recent war, and the timing of democratic elections means that Iraq is an issue that is not going to go away. Within that obscurity we find Iraq, whose history swirls around all who enter. This book chronicles the hugely complex 7,000-year-long history of commerce, war, and conflict undergone by Iraq, Mesopotamia, the cradle of civilisation.
