ABSTRACT
This article presents the results of a financial planning survey as of January 2005. Accountants left a favorable impression among 52 percent of respondents, while financial planners left only 38 percent with a favorable impression, according to a recent survey by the Financial Planning Association. Stockbrokers impressed 25 percent. Among other survey findings: seventy percent are worried whether Social Security will remain solvent; privatizing or adding individual savings accounts were more favored than increasing taxes or raising the retirement age for Social Security; saving for retirement is the biggest financial worry among respondents, followed by eliminating debt, saving for college, and improving career prospects; forty-two percent were very confident about their financial future, versus 36 percent in 2003.
