ABSTRACT
The article reports that Scholastic Inc. finished its second quarter of fiscal 2005, ended Nov. 30, with a 6% drop in children's book publishing and distribution revenues to $425 million compared to the second quarter of 2004. Operating profit in the segment was $95.7 million, up 2% from the second quarter 2004, a positive development after the company children's book segment posted an operating loss of $65 million in the first quarter of 2005. Top sellers for the quarter include "Dragon Rider," by Cornelia Funke and "Chasing Vermeer," by Blue Balliett. The paperback edition of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has also been a strong performer for the publisher.
