What Experience Has Taught Us: The Four R's of Library Development

Jobb, Pat; Moore, Judy

Feliciter;2004, Vol. 50 Issue 6, p239
The article states that in recent years, the Edmonton Public Library's downtown flagship facility, the Stanley A. Milner Library, has gone through a dramatic three-phase makeover and revitalization. Authors of the article discussed the four "R's" of library development in the article. According to these authors the first "R" stands for redefining, that is, developing a building program by defining library services and the library audience. The second "R" stands for redesigning and the third "R" stands for retooling. Authors point out that staff involvement is key to any successful project. A re-organization not only leads staff through change, but also brings them on board as change agents.
