ABSTRACT
The article focuses on communication, which is a vital part of any industry. Mix magazine was founded in 1977 from a need to provide information for studios, musicians, engineers, producers and other audio professionals. First appearing as a directory of recording studios and services in the San Francisco Bay Area, the concept expanded to include the studios of Los Angeles, and later Nashville, New York and the rest of the country. Eventually Mix widened its scope, adding interviews with key industry figures, articles on audio production techniques, new products, and directories of essential audio services, such as audio for video/film, live sound, remote recording, mastering/replication and audio schools.
