ABSTRACT
This article reports on exchange offers. Now there's the exchange of free items via www.freecycle.org. The nonprofit site is a clearinghouse for Yahoo! Inc. groups across the globe that function on a local level to connect people who want to give or get free stuff. Created in May 2003 to divert items from the Tucson, Arizona, waste stream, the grassroots effort aims to protect the environment from expanding landfills. Since its inception, the site has grown to serve more than 1,700 communities, more than half a million free-cyclers have participated.
