Dear Santa: Two systematic scoping reviews, please

December 2004
CPJ: Counselling & Psychotherapy Journal;Dec2004, Vol. 15 Issue 10, p52
This article reports that BACP has published scoping reviews of the research relating to working with the elderly and with children and young people. Some will have bought a copy and tried to access original research documents or journal articles — and then simply given up because of the difficulty in accessing databases and journals. However, according to Nancy Rowland, BACPs Head of Research, these reports are best used by practitioners as an evidence-based introduction to some of the issues around counselling these groups. Counselling who wish to use research findings to inform their practice are often faced with a variety of problems. Identifying and obtaining relevant papers is a difficult task requiring access to large literature databases and extensive library facilities.
