This article focuses on the library budget. Although four university presses-Harvard, Oxford, Princeton, and the University of California - had titles selected for the New York Times 100 Notable Books of the Year list, university presses in general are still feeling the pinch of tightening library budgets. New York University Press director Steve Maikowski told "Book Publishing Report," the press has published between 80 and 85 new books annually for the last few years and hopes to publish 95 for fiscal 2004, ending August 31, 2005.
