ABSTRACT
This article presents information on special events that took place in several states of the United States. Major damage caused by Hurricanes Frances and Jeanne prompted Martin' County Commissioners in December 2004 to order the preparation of documents for the sale of $8.2 million of bonds. Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge continues to impress rating agencies, as Standard & Poor's upgraded its debt to A-plus from A. Moody's Investors Service said it sees stable credit quality for South Carolina counties despite lagging wealth indicators and the state's economic vulnerability as it diversifies from the historically dominant textile industry.
