The article reports that New York-based First Albany Capital Inc. has given sole control of the municipal group to Kenneth D. Gibbs, who had shared that position since the spring with Arthur T. Murphy, who has been credited with building what was a small regional shop into a national competitor. Murphy, a 25-year veteran of the firm, is on a leave of absence. Market sources said the leave of absence would run for six months, with Murphy having the option to then return, although he is not expected to do so.
