ABSTRACT
This article reports that the Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB), on December 16, 2004, filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) a notice that would amend its Rule G-21 on advertising to establish specific requirements for dealers that market and advertise municipal fund securities in connection with so-called Section 529 college savings plans. The notice is designed to bring the MSRB's advertising rules for municipal fund securities more in line with the SEC rules that apply to mutual funds.
