ABSTRACT
The article reports that the New York general business conditions index for December has improved, gaining to 29.9 from 18.9 in November, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Empire State Manufacturing Survey. Economists polled by IFR BondData America predicted a reading of 21.0 for the current business conditions index. The December new-orders index jumped to 40.2 from 16.9 in November, while shipments increased to 38.4 from 21.5. and unfilled orders gained to 10.4 from negative 1.4. The delivery time index reversed to positive 2.9 from negative 5.0. while the inventories index gained to 1.9 from 0.0 in the prior survey. The prices paid index grew to 57.7 from 53.3, while the prices received index dipped to 15.4 from 17.5.
