This article reports that the Design Business Association (DBA) is Great Britain's most vocal champion of the role of effective design in the creation of business growth. The DBA was founded in 1986 to recognise, communicate and reward the integral role that design effectiveness plays in commercial success. Without effective design solutions businesses will be denying their shareholders of a full return on their investment. Without investment in design businesses will be denying their shareholders the competitive advantage and sustained differentiation needed to evolve into a world-class performer. The DBA has evolved into the essential authority on design, a trustworthy resource for the business community, a go-between that fosters links between commerce and creativity. It provides businesses with advice, guidance, training, forums, publications and information on all aspects of the design industry, demonstrating that design is an investment, not an expense.
