The article informs that beyond ice cream and frozen novelties lining the typical c-store freezer case, there is uncharted territory for many operators. A variety of new frozen dinners, breakfast sandwiches and pizzas are providing c-stores with the opportunity to expand their frozen offering. In addition to the foodservice section of the c-store, customers often look for a quick frozen meal to take home with them at night, or a breakfast item with their coffee in the morning. Drugstores, discount stores and dollar stores have entered the frozen food space, including 99 Cents Only Stores Inc., Walgreen's and Wal-Mart. Casey's General Stores Inc., a chain with more than 1,200 stores based in Ankeny, Iowa, added Iltaco Food's Chicago Avenue Pizzas to its lineup.
