ABSTRACT
The article informs that C-stores operating multi-layered foodservice programs, with chains like Taco Bell Corp. and Subway in addition to their own foodservice initiatives, must develop a system to meet the needs of their customer base while cutting down on overhead and waste. Today, advances in technology allow c-store operators to forecast the right amount of food to serve the right amount of customers, and several innovative c-store chains have benefited from inventory management software. Altoona, Pennsylvania-based Sheetz Inc., operating 302 stores in six states, realized 10 years ago that" paper ballot" ordering, which was crucial to Sheetz's made-to-order foodservice platform, was an ineffective practice, explained John Moultan, director of store operations.
