ABSTRACT
The article presents a response to papers on capital access and investment in healthcare. Kenneth Kaufman, a financial consultant in healthcare stresses the need for best- practice financial planning to ensure sufficient financial performance to meet future capital needs. Certainly, that is becoming increasingly important, as hospital capital needs grow and financial performance goals must be met to make the necessary investments to remain competitive. The biggest challenge that not for profit hospitals face today is educating not only the credit constituencies but the local community and general public as well as the investor community demands solid and reliable financial performance.
