ABSTRACT
This article discusses various issues related to the rules and regulations for customers of Internet industry. Some of the business enterprises related to Internet industry mentioned here are: MCI Communications Corp. and SBC Communications Inc. The issue of contract clauses has become more acute, as all carriers now present contract clauses that are more or less identical to what's contained in MCI Communications Corp.'s Service Agreement. MCI Communications Corp is unique among the carriers in offering customers the option of escaping a contract if new onerous terms or conditions are imposed. That needs to change, and all the carriers need to offer an escape clause. Of all the carriers' Web-based terms and conditions references, the one the article author dislikes the most is from SBC Communications Inc for inter-exchange service. One not only has to be aware of the contract documents a carrier submits, but also to keep current with the terms and conditions posted on the carriers' Web sites. While one's negotiations may wind up superseding what's in the carrier's Guide, it's essential to know the contents of the Guide.
