ABSTRACT
The article focuses on acquisition of Robert Mondavi Corp. by Constellation Brands Inc. In 2004 the California wine maker had an action packed year. In January, publicly traded Mondavi went through some wrenching changes. Ted Hall, became chairmen and to restructure the company he made new moves. This caused the share price to surge to $42 in September from $32 in August, drawing the notice of such competitors as Beringer Blass Wine Estates Ltd. and Constellation Brands. In October, Mondavi received the offer from Constellation Brands. Initially the board rejected the offer and finally got an improved offer of $ 1.36 billion, turning the hostile bid into a friendly one.
