Reports that the protracted battle of Clifford Chance LLP with the defunct Brobeck Phleger & Harrison LLP has taken another twist with a group of former Brobeck partners and some asbestos lawyers bidding to acquire the claim from the defunct firm in the U.S. Decision by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court's Judge Montali on whether to approve the settlement agreed between Clifford Chance and Brobeck trustee Ronald Greenspan; Offer by a cabal of 10 lawyers to acquire Brobeck's claim; Move of Greenspan to throw down the challenge to former Brobeck partners who received distributions in 2001 and 2002.
