ABSTRACT
The article presents information about Miles Copeland III, the single largest US distributor of Arab singers on his Mondo Melodia and Monde Rhymica labels. A case in point is Algeria's ra' i star Cheb Mami whom Copeland brought to the attention of Sting. Their collaboration flowered into the song Desert Rose which was a breakthrough for Arab music to cross over into a western composition. His rather, Miles Copeland Jr., was a trumpeter in Glen Miller's band until he joined the Office of Strategic Services and married a British intelligence officer in London, Miles III was born in 1944 while Hitler's buzz bombs were menacing London.
