ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the findings of the Furniture Industry Strategy Group report (FISG) and its recommendations. FISG found that 70 percent of companies have difficulties recruiting skilled staff, particularly in upholstery, sewing and wood machining. Complaints from some manufacturers that they wanted to train their staff but could not find help were dismissed by FISG. Most of FISG's proposals make perfect sense and will serve most companies well. The real key is whether companies take up the challenge and implement the recommendations.
