ABSTRACT
This article presents information related to Lazard bank. It is losing its market share in its area of speciality which is mergers and acquisitions. The internal bickering between Chairman Michel David-Weill and Chief Executive Bruce Wasserstein regarding the pending initial public offering is distracting Lazard bankers and drawing complaints from clients. The large restructurings that drove it to sixth place in the global merger and acquisitions league tables for announced deals are falling off. The bank has been retained by Mitsubishi Tokyo Financial Group (MTFG) in its takeover game with UFG Holdings, a deal that could be valued as much as $30 billion.
