Mark Cuban, the owner of NBA's Dallas Mavericks professional basketball team announced on his blog logmaverick.com that he plans to launch a hedge fund that will be run by gamblers and will bet on sports games instead of picking stocks and bonds. Hedge funds are high-risk investments that cater to rich individuals and institutional investors such as pension funds and insurance companies. On the Web site, Cuban accused public companies of manipulating profit numbers.
