ABSTRACT
The article highlights some of the changes brought about by the Economic Recovery Tax Act (ERTA) and encourages nurses to use tax credits and deductions to increase their net income. ERTA reduced income tax rates and introduced increased tax credits and new deductions. Anyone who pays income tax is affected by the tax laws, and, therefore, should become familiar with those aspects of the law that can affect the amount of tax they will ultimately pay or can legitimately avoid paying. The emphasis is placed on accurate record keeping and preparation for possible audit.
