This article focuses on various books related to land use and city planning. "The Architectural Pattern Book: A Tool for Building Great Neighborhoods," by Ray Gindroz and Rob Robinson traces the history of pattern books over the centuries, their decline and revival, their purpose, structure, current value and the process of creating one. It provides the designers and builders the flexibility to create a wide range of houses that will reflect a neighborhood's traditions. "Metropolitan Governance: Conflict, Competition, and Cooperation," edited by Richard Feiock discusses regionalism in local governments. According to planners, regional governments with land-use powers are the best way to promote economic development.
