Discusses the accomplishments of the Emerging Issues Task Force of the Financial Accounting Standards Board in its second anniversary. Goal of providing more timely financial reporting guidance; De facto standard-setting body; Performance with regards to timeliness, agenda clatter, and standards overload; Task force conclusions on a number of issues such as discontinued operations and Impairment of long-lived assets and depreciation of idle facilities.
