Investigation has been performed on exchange bias in a Co(32 Ã…)/NiO(10 Ã…)/[Co(4 Ã…)/Pt(6 Ã…)]4 multilayer after cooling at remanence. The easy axes of the Co/Pt multilayer and the 32 Ã… Co layer are different. Both exchange bias and vertical loop shifts have been observed in the out-of-plane loop, and they disappear at the same temperature of 170 K. No obvious vertical shift is observed in the in-plane loops, but the exchange bias transitions from negative at T<50 K to positive at T>50 K. These phenomena have been ascribed to the interfacial induced net moment in the NiO spacer.

The effect of annealing under applied stress on magnetic properties of Co-based or CoFeNi-based glass-coated microwires was studied. It was found that CoFeNi-based microwires became bistable after annealing because of changing of magnetostriction constant sign, while Cobased microwires keep...
