ABSTRACT
The article discusses electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) which is used for genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphisms. In recent years, mass spectrometry (MS) has emerged as a powerful tool for the characterization of nucleic acids. The ESI-MS has found broad applicability in nucleic acid MS. Among the variety of different sample preparation techniques for ESI-MS, high-performance liquid chromatography has become the most promising tool, because it can simultaneously desalt and fractionate nucleic acid mixtures, which are too complex for direct analysis.
