ABSTRACT
The article focuses on the importance of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) for solid-phase extraction. The use of MIPs in sample concentration, clean up, screening, and isolation by solid-phase extraction with compound-specific or group-specific extractions are highly attractive and promising applications. There are two types of MIP formats: Particle and membrane types. Ideally, one should make two MIPs for a target compound: One should be compound-specific without any cross-reactivity with other structurally related compounds, and the other should be group-specific for structurally related compounds.
