The article presents information on various spectroscopic techniques. Spectroscopic techniques are particularly powerful for structure elucidation when several methods are combined. There is certainly no unique approach to structure elucidation by spectroscopy that can be generalized. The pieces of information typically searched for in various types of spectra are: Mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, proton NMR spectroscopy, Carbon-13 NMR spectroscopy, 2D NMR spectra, UV/vis spectroscopy, etc.
