Capillary electromigration separation techniques – current trends

The article focuses on capillary electromigration separation techniques. Analytical capillary electromigration techniques comprise those separation techniques that are performed in the presence of a high electric field strength in liquid-filled channels of small dimensions. These techniques are based on electrokinetic phenomena (electrophoresis and electro-osmosis): capillary electrophoresis (CE), capillary sieving electrophoresis, micellar electrokinetic capillary chromatography, capillary electrochromatography, capillary isotachophoresis, and capillary isoelectric focusing. In many cases electrokinetic capillary chromatography is regarded to be a special case of CE.
