ABSTRACT
The author presents a general guide of an on going research initially made in Mexico's Northern states with the name: "National culture-regional culture, melodrama and mass media". This represents the first stage where history and everyday life are studied. Afterwards, the research general framework with its specific steps is displayed, emphasizing the use of monographies, etnographical studies and life stories.
